SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Thursday alleged that senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) have been issuing threats to PDP leader Yasir Reshi and sought the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah into the matter.
In a post on X, Iltija Mufti claimed that Yasir Reshi had received threatening phone calls in which the caller allegedly claimed to have the support of central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
She alleged that the Union Home Minister’s name was being used to intimidate and pressure members of the PDP and urged Amit Shah to intervene if such actions were not being carried out with the knowledge of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
She also warned those allegedly involved in issuing threats to refrain from such actions.
Separately, Yasir Reshi, in a public post addressed to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on X, alleged that the JKPC spokesperson Ishfaq Gilkar had claimed that certain mainstream political figures were attempting to threaten and harass him because of his political views.
Reshi further alleged that the JKPC spokesperson claimed meetings involving central agencies, including the NIA, Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), had been held at the residence of JKPC president Sajad Gani Lone in the presence of Sheikh Imran to plan action against him.
Seeking intervention, Reshi urged Mehbooba Mufti to take up the matter with the Government of India and seek clarification. He also appealed to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to verify the claims and take appropriate action if found to be true. — (KIMS)
