SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday attached two immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
According to a police statement, the first attached property comprises a residential house along with the land beneath it at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, Srinagar, worth approximately ₹50 lakh, belonging to Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kenu, a resident of Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh.
The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 48/2022 registered under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal. Police said the accused is presently on bail granted by the court.
In another case, Police attached a three-storey residential house along with two commercial shops and the land beneath it at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal, Srinagar, worth approximately ₹55 lakh, belonging to Altaf Ahmad Najar alias T.K. Khan, son of Late Ghulam Qadir Najar, a resident of Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal.
The property was attached under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kral Khud.
The statement said the accused is also under preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988, vide Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Order No. DIVCOM/K/127/2025 dated July 15, 2025, and is presently lodged in preventive detention.
Police said both properties were identified during the investigation as having been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking.
The attachment was carried out after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority (SAFEMA), New Delhi, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act.
The attachment proceedings were executed by duly constituted police teams in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj.
Police said the action is aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks by targeting assets acquired through the proceeds of crime and reiterated that stringent legal and financial action will continue against those involved in narcotics-related activities. — (KIMS)
