Police arrest two in theft case, recover stolen property in Bandipora

BANDIPORA — Police in Bandipora have arrested two accused persons in connection with a theft case registered at Police Station Sumbal and recovered the stolen property, officials said on Saturday.

The case was registered after police received a complaint on September 18 regarding the theft of various items at Ganastan, Nowgam. Accordingly, FIR No. 209/2026 was registered under Sections 305, 331(4) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Post Nowgam.

During the investigation, police arrested Shabir Ahmed Wani, son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, a resident of Sadunara. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed his involvement in the offence along with an accomplice and revealed the place where the stolen property had been kept.

Based on his disclosure, police recovered the stolen property from his residence and subsequently identified another accused, Mohammad Shafi Dar, son of Abdul Samad Dar, also a resident of Sadunara.

Both accused have been arrested, while further investigation and interrogation are underway to ascertain their possible involvement in other theft cases and identify any additional persons connected with the offence. — (KIMS)
