JAMMU (KIMS) — The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped a Senior Assistant of the Labour Department while allegedly accepting a bribe on behalf of an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in Jammu.
According to an ACB statement, FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu against Er. Ravinder Krundu, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), presently posted as Inspector of Factories and Boilers in the Labour Department, and Gurdass, Senior Assistant, for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
The ACB said the complainant alleged that Er. Ravinder Krundu had demanded a bribe of ₹60,000 for processing and clearing his boiler inspection case. Following negotiations, the amount was allegedly reduced to ₹40,000, which was to be accepted through his office clerk, Gurdass.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, seeking legal action against the accused officials.
Following a discreet verification, the ACB found prima facie evidence corroborating the demand for bribe through the Senior Assistant and registered the case, the statement said.
During investigation, a trap team was constituted, which laid a successful trap and caught Gurdass red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount from the complainant on behalf of Er. Ravinder Krundu in the presence of independent witnesses.
The statement said Er. Ravinder Krundu was not present in his office at the time of the trap.
Gurdass was arrested on the spot after completion of legal formalities, and the tainted bribe money was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses.
The ACB also conducted searches at the residential premises of both accused in accordance with law.
Further investigation in the case is underway. — (KIMS)
