Active since 2018, two Pakistani JeM militants killed in Kulgam encounter

KULGAM — Active since four years in South Kashmir, two Pakistani militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Mirhama area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir on Saturday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Mirhama following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were killed and they have been identified as Sultan Pathan and Zabiullah from Pakistan.

Arms and ammunition including 02 AK rifles, 7 AK magazines, 9 grenades etc were recovered from the site of encounter.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, “They were categorised militants and were active since year 2018 in the areas of Kulgam-Shopian districts”. — (KIMS)
