SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested Advocate Mian Muzaffar, the nephew of Advocate Mian Qayoom, under Public Safety Act (PSA), family members said.
They informed Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that authorities arrested Muzaffar from his residence at approximately 1:00 AM.
As per family, “Authorities informed them that he has been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and subsequently shifted him to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.”
The circumstances surrounding his detention remain unclear, and family members are seeking more information about the charges leading to his arrest.
Earlier, former BAR president Mian Qayoom was arrested in murder case of Advocate Babar Qadri.
The ad hoc chairman of the J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Kashmir, Nazir Ahmad Ronga, was also arrested by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration in Srinagar just hours after the Bar issued a notification related to the internal election.
Meanwhile, in a notification, a Bar spokesman said, “On turn of events the JKHCBA has decided to suspend notification (issued on July 10).”
The police have not commented on the arrests of Two lawyers Advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga and Advocate Mian Muzaffar or accusations of being booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA). — (KDC)
