Anantnag admin starts ‘Main Bhi Kisan’ initiative

The students will get reconnected with the agricultural field which seems disconnected among the young generation, says DC Anantnag Syed Fakhruddin Hamid

ANANTNAG (KIMS) — The administration in Anantnag on Friday started an initiative ‘Main Bhi Kisan’ in the district to reconnect the young generation particularly school students with the agriculture.

Under the initiative ‘Main Bhi Kisan’, the school students will have exposure tours to the agricultural fields after every three months, where they will have interactions with farmers and gain knowledge about using of traditional and modern equipments by the farmers.

The students will be accompanied by nodal officer from the school and field officers of the agriculture department.

The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Fakhruddin Hamid along with Chief Agricultural Officer Anantnag, Aijaz Hussain Dar kick-started the initiative ‘Main Bhi Kisan’ from Government High School Krad Anantnag.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag while talking with Kashmir Independent Media Service (KIMS Kashmir) said, “The exposure tour of school students will be like practical class for 1-2 hours for the students from Class 6th onwards so that the students can reconnect with the agriculture and its allied sectors.”

“After completing the exposure tours to different agricultural fields, the students will discuss about these tours in their morning assemblies and classrooms so that they will get awareness and get reconnected with the agricultural field which seems disconnected among the young generation”, he said.

He further said, “We will bring every school from Class 6th onwards, college and youth club under this initiative.”

“The Chief Agricultural Officer along with Chief Education Officer Anantnag have issued a timetable and every officer has been directed to follow the roadmap for the smooth functioning of the initiative ‘Main Bhi Kisan'”, he added. — (KIMS)
