Anantnag-Awantipora train service to remain suspended today, rest to ply normally

SRINAGAR — The train service between Anantnag-Awantipora section will remain suspended, authorities informed on Friday.

However, the train service between Banihal-Anantnag and Awantipora-Baramulla section and vice-versa will run normally as per schedule.

The railway authorities in a communique said, “In view of Friday and yesterdays incident at Naina Batpora in the J/D of GRPP Bijbehara at track KM 27.9, the place of occurance is adjacent to the railway track. It is therefore requested the train service from Anantnag to Awantipora may kindly be suspended.”

“However from Banihal to Anantnag and Awantipora to Baramulla may be plied for today as there is every apprehension of law and order problem,” the communique said.

The train service between Banihal-Budgam was suspended on Thursday as a precautionary measure due to encounter at Naina, Batpora in Pulwama district. — (KIMS)
