Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar seeks release of Mirwaiz

SRINAGAR — Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar again expressed concern and sorrow over the continued detention of its Chairman Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq

The Anjuman in a statement said that even in Rabi-ul-Awwal and the following Friday of this blessed month in which the birth of the Holy Prophet (SAW) took place, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir was not allowed to deliver the sermon in the Central Jama Masjid, which is very sad.

“The detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir for the past three years is not only hurting the religious sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims, but due to such dictatorial behaviour of the authorities, the pulpit and mihrab of the Central Jama Masjid Srinagar has been made to fall silent for the last more than three years,” the statement said.
