Army organises large-scale medical camp in remote Ganderbal area, thousands benefit

SRINAGAR, Ajaz Dar (KIMS) — The Indian Army organised a large-scale medical camp in the remote Anderwan Yarmuqam area of Ganderbal district, providing healthcare services to residents of far-flung villages.

The camp, organised by the Army’s Anderwan unit, witnessed a large turnout, with thousands of locals availing free medical consultation and treatment.

A team of Army doctors and medical staff conducted health check-ups, diagnosed various ailments and distributed medicines on the spot.

The initiative was particularly beneficial for elderly people, women and children who often face difficulty in accessing healthcare facilities due to poor connectivity and lack of infrastructure in the region.

Besides treatment, awareness sessions were also conducted for school children on hygiene, sanitation and basic life-saving techniques such as CPR.

Locals expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that such efforts provide much-needed medical relief in remote areas.

An elderly resident, Alam Din Awan, aged about 125 years old said he had never witnessed such a medical camp in the area before and that thousands of people had benefited from the initiative.

Army officials reiterated their commitment to continue such outreach programmes, particularly in remote and underserved areas, to improve access to essential healthcare services.

They said the initiative was aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in areas where access remains limited. — (KIMS)
