Avalanche warning issued in 10 districts of J&K

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (DMA) on Tuesday issued High, Medium and Low Danger Level avalanche warning in Jammu and Kashmir.

The avalanche warning has been issued for next 24 hours in 10 districts of the Union Territory in view of the inclement weather conditions.

According to Disaster Management Authority (DMA), The avalanche with High Danger Level is likely to occur above 2000 meters over Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts.

The avalanche with Medium Danger Level is likely to occur above 2400 meters over Bandipora and Baramulla districts.

The avalanche with Low Danger Level is likely to occur above 2200 meters over Anantnag and Kulgam districts.

The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has also advised people living in these areas to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.

Notably, the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir received heavy snowfall while plains received light to moderate snowfall during last 24 hours. — (KIMS)
