SRINAGAR — The locals living in the vicinity of Bund area of Lal Chowk in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir have urged authorities to depute some police personal in the area to keep eye on acts of impudence and shamelessness.
According to locals, the bund area of Lal Chowk from foot bridge down to zero bridge is fast turning into a hub of immoral activities in Srinagar.
They said that young boys and girls who bunk schools and colleges can often be seen roaming around this place and indulging in shameful activities with impunity.
They added that the residents and passersby are finding it difficult to walk along this area amid the environment of immodesty.
People of the locality have urged higher authorities to depute some police personal in the area on daily basis so that the acts of impudence and shamelessness can be checked.
Locals while talking to media said, “its worrying that our young generation is indulging in such activities. This must be stopped at earliest.”
Meanwhile, Executive Member SACPDD, Dr. Rizwan Rumi has expressed deep concern over the indulging of our youth particularly school/college children in immoral activities.
Dr. Rizwan while talking to KIMS said, “our youth is getting destroyed by indulging in shameful activities such as drug addiction. The addiction is spreading like fire among youth which is very worrying,” adding that “our youth should should focus on career building rather than involving themselves in such activities”
Dr. Rizwan also urged Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Rakesh Balwal to deploy some police force at Bund area of Lal Chowk to keep regular checking on youths indulging in such activities. — (KIMS)
