SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday expressed concern over the road accident at Ganiwan in Ganderbal district that left 39 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims injured and directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured devotees.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the accident at Gund, Kangan, in which several pilgrims returning to Srinagar after performing the annual pilgrimage were injured.
He directed that the injured be provided the best possible medical care and deputed Health Minister Sakina Itoo to visit the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and oversee their treatment.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he spoke with the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal and health officials to inquire about the condition of the injured pilgrims.
He said 39 pilgrims returning after paying obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine sustained injuries in the accident at Ganiwan and are undergoing treatment at SKIMS.
The Lieutenant Governor said he had directed health officials to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care for the injured.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the pilgrims.
The accident occurred earlier on Tuesday morning when a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims skidded off the road and met with an accident at Ganiwan in Ganderbal district. — (KIMS)
