Srinagar: Chief Minister on Friday unveiled the jersey of Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Club (SCC) at a function held here, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent across Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was attended by Sports Minister Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister and members of the club.
Appreciating the club’s contribution towards promoting cricket, the Chief Minister said the government will extend all possible support to encourage sports activities and provide a platform for youth to excel.
On the occasion, SCC President Aman Cheema highlighted the club’s achievements, stating that it has participated in and won several tournaments. He added that the club is playing a constructive role in engaging youth and steering them away from negative influences such as drug abuse by channelising their energy into sports.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also released a wildlife magazine titled Checklist of Mammals of Jammu and Kashmir, India. A delegation of wildlife ecologists led by Muzaffar Kichloo briefed him about their ongoing and upcoming projects.
Commending their efforts, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of scientific research and conservation in preserving the region’s rich biodiversity. (KIMS)
