JAMMU — Congress has strongly opposed the new transport policy and excise policy of UT administration and questioned BJP for converting city of temples and Jammu region into liquor hub.
Reacting Sharply to the recent decisions with regards to transport industry especially the ban on commercial vehicles in Jammu and Srinagar cities, over 20 years age, the senior Congress Leaders said that already transport industry is suffering a lot due to huge taxes upon them and unreasonable policies while the new ban order is injustice with the industry.
In a joint statement, working President Raman Bhalla, vice president Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Yogesh Sawhney, Th Manmohan Singh, Th Shiv Dev Singh, Th Balbir Singh, T S Bajwa Ex MP, District Presidents Hari Singh Chib, Pankaj Dogra, Krishan Bhagat and several congress leaders have lashed out at the double standards of BJP over the issue of liquor shops as Jammu has been witnessing mashroom growth of liquor business.
While in opposition, it used to term it as conspiracy of Kashmiri leaders to push Jammu youth to alcohol addiction but under BJP regime, the liquor mafia has expanded by leaps and bounds. Earlier they pushed the local traders to wall and snatched the source of income from several individual traders and now more and more shops are coming up.
BJP stands exposed on every issue particularly in hobnobbing with influential people at the cost of local traders in various lucrative trades in Jammu and Kashmir, they said. — (KIMS)
