Court passes judgement in favour of Disability Rights Activist

SRINAGAR — Court of Chief Commissioner for persons with Disabilities New Delhi passed judgement in favour of Disability Rights Activis.

Last year in september 2021 Child & Disability Rights Activist Zaheer Jan admitted petition in Court of Chief Commissioner New Delhi regarding Hostel facility for specially abled Phd research scholar in Kashmir university.

After 9 months of continue notices, follow-ups rejoinder to kashmir university. Court has fixed online hearing on 1 february and from Complainant side High Court Advocate Naveed Bakhtiyar was present during the hearing.

Today court has passed judgement and give direction to Kashmir university provide accessible residential accommodation to Research scholar in Gani kashmiri research scholar hostel or any other hostel which is near the building where class are organised.

Zaheer Jan said victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting.

He said most of the Govt institutions and private schools violated RPWD Act 2016 rules every time PWD s and other social activists need to move different commission, Govt and private institutions should follow RPWD Act 2016.

Respondent is directed to submit compliance report of this order within 3 months from the date of order.

Court mentioned in order if respondent fail to submit compliance report within 3 months it shall be presumed that the respondent has not complied with the the order and the issue will reported to the parliament in accordance with section 78 rights of persons with disabilities Act 2016.
