Crime Branch Kashmir registers case against ex-police employee for duping people on pretext of government jobs

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir on Saturday said it has registered a case against an individual for cheating innocent people on the pretext of providing government jobs.

EOW said the case was registered following a written complaint received by the Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar, in which the complainants alleged that the accused, a former police employee, fraudulently collected around Rs 23 lakh by promising government employment.

According to the complaint, the accused issued fake appointment orders and supplied forged documents, including identity cards, licences, appointment letters, and fabricated police and CID verification reports.

Upon receipt of the complaint, a preliminary probe was initiated by the EOW of Crime Branch Kashmir, during which the allegations were found to be prima facie substantiated.

The inquiry revealed that the accused had systematically cheated the complainants of their hard-earned money by issuing fake job orders under false assurances of government employment, EOW added.

Consequently, a case has been registered at Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar, under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). Further investigation into the matter is underway. — (KIMS)
