Disallowing Friday prayers, placing Mirwaiz under house detention is greatly disturbing: Anjuman Auqaf

SRINAGAR — The administration’s decision to disallow Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and placing Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq under continued house detention is incomprehensible and greatly disturbing, Anjuman Auqaf said on Friday.

The Anjuman Auqaf, the management body of the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the Srinagar’s statement came after the Jammu and Kashmir administration did not allow the Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid for the sixth consecutive week.

The Anjuman said that the grand mosque is being repeatedly targeted on the pretext of the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.

The Amjuman also criticised the authorities for detaining Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq. — (PTI)
