Dozen erstwhile separatists, JKLF members detained in Srinagar

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that it conducted a search in a hotel in Srinagar where some ex-militants, Hurriyat and others were holding a meeting to revive Hurriyat and JKLF.

Srinagar Police in tweet said, A Search was conducted on basis of credible info about meeting of some ex-trts of JKLF & erstwhile separatists in a hotel in Srinagar. They were brought to Kothibagh PS for verification. Inquiry has started, prima facie it came out that they were planning to revive JKLF & hurriyat.

However, reliable sources told news agency KDC that a meeting was being conducted at Hotel Habib in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kothibagh, in the meantime a top officer’s team of Srinagar police after receiving specific information raided the hotel and apprehended many leader including Masroor Abbas Ansari, Yaseen Bhat of JKLF, Syed Rehman Shams, Professor Abdul Gani’s son Jehangir Ahmad Bhat, Firdous Shah, Sajad Hussain, Fayaz Bachoo, Hamid Bhat, Asif Parmoo, Irfan Rouf, Basharat, Junaid and many others.

All the persons approximately (40-42) were taken to police station Kothibagh for further questioning and prima facie it came out that they were planning to revive the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Hurriyat conference. — (KDC)
