Drug peddler arrested in Sopore, contraband substance recovered: Police

SOPORE — Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Ahad Baba crossing in Sopre town of Noth Kashmir and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

According to press release by Sopore Police, a Police party of Police Post Bus Stand Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore during naka checking at Ahad Baba crossing intercepted a person in a suspicious manner. During checking, officers recovered 216 Spasmoproxyvon Plus capsules from his possession.

He has been identified as Umer Amin Banday, son of Muhammad Amin Banday, resident of Gousia Colony Noorbagh, Sopore.

He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, the press release read.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 252/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up, reads the press release. — (KIMS)
