Dry, cold weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir till December 24: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Thursday forecast dry and cold weather in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir till December 24.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “Currently, the weather is mainly clear at most places of Jammu and Kashmir. Similar weather conditions will prevail in the Union Territory on December 15.”

He said, “The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with possibility of brief spell of light snow over extreme higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on December 16.”

He said, “The weather is expected to remain mainly dry in Jammu and Kashmir from December 17 to 24.”

He said, “Shallow to moderate fog is likely to continue at many places of Kashmir division.”

Meanwhile, the Summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded coldest night of the season at minus 5.4°C followed by Kupwara minus 4.2°C, Qazigund 3.8°C and Anantnag minus 3.6°C. The famous tourist resort Pahalgam recorded minus 5.8°C, Gulmarg minus 5.0°C and Kokernag minus 1.6°C as the Minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Thursday.

The Winter Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu recorded 6.7°C, Katra 6.6°C, Batote 2.1°C, Udhampur 3.6°C, Patnitop 2.0°C while Bhaderwah recorded minus 0.2°C and Banihal minus 0.5°C as the Minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 11.0°C and Kargil recorded minus 8.8°C as the Minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
