Dry, cold weather to continue in J&K till Jan 14: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The weather is expected to remain generally dry and cold in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir till January 14, the Meteorological Department (MeT) said on Saturday.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “The weather is expected to remain generally dry in Jammu and Kashmir till January 8.” “Similar weather conditions will prevail in the Union Territory from January 10 to 14,” he said.

He said, “The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy over plains with possibility of light snowfall over isolated extreme higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on January 9.”

He said, “There will be moderate to dense fog over plains of Jammu during next 2 days.”

Meanwhile, the Summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar and Kupwara each recorded minus 5.4°C, Qazigund minus 4.6°C, Gulmarg minus 4.5°C, Pahalgam minus 6.3°C and Kokernag minus 2.9°C as the Minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Saturday.

The Winter capital, Jammu recorded 4.1°C, Katra 5.6°C, Batote 2.3°C, Bhaderwah minus 0.3°C and Banihal minus 1.6°C as the Minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 12.8°C and Kargil minus 10.2°C as the Minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
