Dry weather in J&K for next 24 hours: MeT

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Friday forecast dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir for next 24 hours as weather remained inclement in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

According to an official of the Meteorological Department, “weather is expected to remain dry in J&K during the next 24 hours.”

He said, Srinagar recorded 1.2 degrees Celsius as minimum temperature while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 4.3 degrees Celsius and minus 8.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature today.

In Jammu region he said, Jammu recorded 5.5 degrees Celsius and Katra 6.0 degrees Celsius as minimum temperature while Batote, Banihal and Bhaderwah recorded minus 0.1 degrees Celsius, minus 0.6 degrees Celsius and minus 0.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Leh recorded minus 11.2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
