Encounter breaks out in Shopian’s Amshipora village

SHOPIAN — An encounter breaks out between government forces and militants at Amshipora village in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Friday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Amshipora village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Sources said two militants are believed to be trapped in this encounter.

Meanwhile, authorities have snapped down mobile internet service in Shopian district as a precautionary measure.

The encounter was underway when reports last came in. — (KIMS)
