SRINAGAR — A militant has been killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Padgampora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Padgampora area of Awantipora following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, one militant was killed and his identification is yet to be ascertained.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “AwantiporaEncounterUpdate: 01 militant killed. Body of the killed militant yet to be retrieved. Encounter in progress. Further details shall follow. — (KIMS)
