PULWAMA — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested an extortionist in Rajpora area of Pulwama district.
Police said, Police Station Rajpora received a written complaint from a person (Name Withheld) wherein he stated that at about 1930 Hrs while on way to home from his clinic, some unknown person intercepted him and threatened him with weapons and asked for money & other valuable items & fled away from the spot by taking his valet containing Rs 3300/- and mobile phone.
Upon this report, a Case FIR No 8/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Rajpora and investigation was set into motion, they said.
During the course of investigation, several persons were rounded up, one among them identified as Adil Ah Dar S/o Mohd Yousuf Dar R/o Bellow Pulwama was interrogated professionally, who revealed that he has committed the said crime using toy pistols, they said.
Police said 2 Toy Pistols, 3 Wallets, Redmi Mobile, Rs 3330/- Cash, J&K Bank ATM Card, Aadhar Card, SBI ATM Card, Driving Licence, Pan Card, Election Card, Jio Sim Card belonging to complainant were recovered upon his disclosure.
Vucher bearing no 678 of Altaf Electric Works Shopain was also recovered from the extortionist. Further investigation into the matter is in progress, they said.
General public are requested not to fall in any such trap and to inform concerned Police Station about any such incident, they said. — (KIMS)
