Five Lashkar militants killed in Kupwara anti-militancy operation: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least five militants who were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed in an anti-militancy operation at Machil Sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.

Two militants were killed after encounter was started on specific information provided by Kupwara Police.

“Based on a specific information provided by Kupwara Police, an encounter was started in Machil Sector in which two militants were killed,” Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Later in the evening, three more militants were killed taking the total number of militants killed in the operation to five.

“Three (03) more militants of LeT killed (Total 05),” Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) while quoting Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.

“The identification of the killed militants is being ascertained,” ADGP Kumar saiid.

Arms and ammunition including 5 AK Rifles and other incriminating materials have been recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
