Four non-locals killed in Awantipora accident, Pulwama admin announces ex-gratia

PULWAMA — At least four non-locals were killed and over two dozen persons were injured in a road accident on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in Gooripora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district on Saturday morning.

Quoting an official, news agency KNO reported that a bus bearing Registration Number JK02BA-1881 turned turtle in Gooripora area of Awantipora, resulting in injuries to 32 persons.

He, as per the report said, all the injured persons were shifted to hospital for treatment, however four among them identified as Nasrudin Ansari S/o Islam Ansari of Khairawa Tola Pakri Harditerha West Champaran, Bihar, Raj Karan Das S/o Shivu as Singhari Gobindpur Kishanganj, Khatia Pichhia, Bihar, Saleem Ali S/o Mohd Alauddin of Hakimnagar Chilhapara, Katihar, Telta Bihar and Kaisher Alam S/o Sheo Majaqurul of Birnagar Sharifnagar Barsoiqhat, Katihar, Bihar succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the incident.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, on the directions of LG Manoj Sinha announced the ex-gratia of one lac for each deceased, Rs 25 Thousand for critically injured and Rs 10,000 for persons with minor injuries.

He also visited SMHS & Bone & Joint Hospitals to inquire about the health of the persons who were injured in the bus accident in Awantipora. He ensured that best possible health care shall be extended to the injured.
