Fresh spell of rain, snow likely in J&K from Feb 1: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness a fresh spell of rain and snowfall from February 1, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds at many places.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain or snowfall along with thunder and gusty winds is expected at many places across Jammu and Kashmir on February 1.

The department said that on February 2, light rain or snowfall is likely at a few higher reaches, mainly towards night.

It further said that on February 3, light rain or snowfall is expected at many places across the Union Territory.

From February 4 to February 6, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy, with no major precipitation expected during the period, the department added.

The MeT also said that on February 7, light rain or snowfall is likely at a few places, while from February 8 to February 10, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy across Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.0°C, Qazigund 0.4°C, Kupwara minus 1.7°C, Kokernag 0.0°C, Pahalgam minus 1.4°C and Gulmarg minus 7.0°C on Sunday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 10.1°C, Katra 9.6°C, Batote 4.2°C, Banihal, 2.4°C and Bhaderwah 0.9°C.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded minus 6.0°C and Kargil minus 4.8°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
