G A Mir appointed Congress Legislature Party leader in J&K

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Ahead of the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed Ghulam Ahmad Mir as the leader of its Legislature Party in the Union Territory.

In an official letter to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra, the party’s National General Secretary, K. C. Venugopal, stated, “Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Ghulam Ahmad Mir as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Mir secured the Dooru seat with a record margin in the recently held Assembly elections.

The Congress won 6 seats, while its alliance partner, the National Conference (NC), secured 42 seats, crossing the majority mark of 46 needed to form the government.

The NC-Congress alliance is set to form the government on Wednesday, with Omar Abdullah, Vice-President of the National Conference, taking the oath as Chief Minister, along with his council of ministers, at SKICC Srinagar. — (KIMS)
