GoI converting J&K into military garrison: Mehbooba on land allocation to army

SRINAGAR — Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said that government of India is converting J&K into military garrison by allocating land in tourist areas to armed forces.

Earlier, the government granted 1034 kanals of land in Gulmarg and 354 in Sonamarg as ‘strategic areas for armed forces.

Mehbooba while reacting on this move tweeted, “Allocating thousands of kanals to armed forces that too in tourist areas confirms GOIs intention to convert J&K into a military garrison. Under the ‘state land’ pretext , our land is up for grabs & to add insult to injury locals are being evicted from their homes.”
