NEW DELHI — The Government of India has set up a tribunal headed by a judge of the Delhi High Court to review the ban on Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP).
According to the Home Ministry notification, The Government of India has constituted a tribunal headed by Justice Sachin Datta, Judge, High Court of Delhi to decide whether there is sufficient cause for declaring the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) as an unlawful association.
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) was banned under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 for five years by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier this month on October 5.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) was founded and headed by Shabir Ahmad Shah in 1998.
Shah, a Kashmiri separatist leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2017 in money laundering case. He is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
