SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday ordered further extension of winter vacations for all Government and recognised private schools up to Higher Secondary level in the summer zones of Jammu Division till January 17, 2026.
The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions in the region.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ), the extension shall be applicable to both teaching staff and students.
However, the Board examinations for Classes 10th to 12th will be conducted strictly as per the already notified schedule, if any.
The order further stated that schools may explore the possibility of conducting online classes for students from Class 6th onwards during the extended vacation period.
It also said that preparations for Republic Day–2026 shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the schedule notified by the competent authorities.
Earlier, the winter vacations were scheduled to end on January 14, 2026, with schools set to reopen on January 15. — (KIMS)
