PULWAMA [Yawar Rashid] (KIMS) — Campaigning for the Rajpora assembly seat concluded on Monday evening, with all contesting candidates making their final push to woo voters. The constituency will go to the polls on Wednesday in the first phase of the elections.
Candidates organized a series of programs on the final day of campaigning, including roadshows in various parts of the constituency.
In Rajpora, Mudasir Hassan from the Aam Aadmi Party is gaining significant momentum with widespread support in the area. His primary competitor, Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir from the National Conference, is also seeing strong backing, resulting in a tight race. This close contest highlights the growing complexity of the political landscape in Rajpora, as both candidates fight hard for a pivotal victory in the upcoming elections.
An official stated that “elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure that the polls proceed without incident.”
“One hundred thirty-three polling stations have been set up across the constituency, with 1,09,543 voters enrolled, including 54,554 males, 54,983 females, and 6 transgender individuals,” the official added. “Voting will take place from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a mock poll in the morning in the presence of polling agents. If there are voters in the queue after 6:00 pm, voting will continue until everyone has cast their ballot.”
The high-stakes contest in Rajpora has attracted a diverse array of 10 candidates from various political parties and independent groups. Among the prominent contenders are Mudasir Hassan (Aam Aadmi Party), Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir (National Conference), Syed Basheer (PDP), Daisy Raina (Republican Party), Altaf Bhat (AIP), Arsheed Bhat (BJP), Ghulam Nabi Digoo (Liberal Democratic Party), Arun Kumar Raina (Nationalist Congress Party), Ghulam Nabi Wani (Democratic Progressive Azad Party), and Ghulam Hassan Malik (Independent). — (KIMS)
