Hundreds benefit from Free Medical Camp in Shangus; Locals laud Salute 72, Noorkash Foundation initiative

SRINAGAR [Sheikh Nadeem] (KIMS) — Hundreds of patients from across Anantnag district availed free medical services at a day-long health camp held Sunday at the Rising Institute of Scientific Education, Shangus.

The camp, jointly organized by Salute 72 Live Blood Donors Group and Noorkash Foundation, aimed to provide healthcare access to underserved communities.

Doctors from multiple specialties offered free check-ups, consultations, and medicines. Organizers said the overwhelming response highlighted the urgent need for affordable healthcare in the region.

“Our goal is to reach those who cannot afford regular medical treatment and ensure no one is left behind,” said members of the organizing groups.

Locals welcomed the initiative, praising the efforts of volunteers and doctors. “We often have to travel far for even basic consultations. Camps like this are a big relief for us,” said Abdul Rashid, a resident of Shangus.

The camp, which ran from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., concluded with a pledge by the organizers to conduct more outreach programs in remote areas. — (KIMS)
