IHRO organises ‘Run for Drug-Free Society’ at Ratnipora, Pulwama

PULWAMA, Farhan Kitab (KIMS) — The International Human Rights Organization (IHRO), Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, on Tuesday organised an awareness programme titled ‘Run for Drug-Free Society’ at Ratnipora in Pulwama district.

The three-kilometre run was organised by Muneer Ahmed, Head of the Sports Wing, IHRO, with the aim of sensitising people—especially youth—about the growing menace of drug abuse in Kashmir.

Speakers on the occasion highlighted that drug addiction has emerged as a “slow poison” for society, posing a serious threat to the future of the younger generation and calling for collective efforts to curb the menace.

More than 50 young boys participated enthusiastically in the run, reflecting their commitment towards building a drug-free society. All participants were later felicitated with certificates and awards in recognition of their participation.

Several senior office bearers of the IHRO J&K Chapter were present on the occasion, including Altaf Bhat, President IHRO; Yakub Dunoo, Head Tourism Wing and Media In-Charge; Muneer Ahmed, Head Sports Wing; Aafaq Rashid, Head Health Wing; Rehana Bhatt; and Roshan Ara, Head Art and Culture Wing.

Addressing the gathering, Altaf Bhat appreciated the active participation of youth and lauded their resolve to stay away from drugs. He also extended special thanks to Towfeeq Ali for his support in making the programme a success.

The event concluded with a strong message of unity and collective responsibility to safeguard the youth and promote a healthy, drug-free society. — (KIMS)
