India observes one-day mourning for Iran President, Foreign Minister’s death

NEW DELHI (KIMS) — As a mark of respect, India on Tuesday observed one-day of state mourning across the country for Iran’s President and Foreign Minister who died in a helicopter crash.

Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other other officials were found dead Monday at the site of the helicopter crash in northwestern Iran, Iranian media reported.

“The Government of India has declared one-day national mourning on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 as a mark of respect to His Excellency Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and His Excellency Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran who passed away in a helicopter crash,” the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement.

“During this period of mourning, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day,” the statement said. — (KIMS)
