Infiltration bid foiled along LoC in Uri, two militants killed

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed after security forces foiled an infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, officials said.

The Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps in a statement said, “Based on numerous inputs received from multiple Intelligence agencies regarding militant groups planning and intending to infiltrate across Line of Control (LoC) in Uri Sector, the surveillance and counter-infiltration grid was reviewed and strengthened.”

“In the wee hours of Friday (05 April), the ambushes close to Line of Control (LoC) spotted a group of militants moving towards the Line of Control (LoC). The forces continuously tracked the hostile movement and established contact resulting in heavy exchange of fire,” the statement said.

“The exchange of fire between security forces and militants led to the killing of two militants whose identity was not immediately known,” the statement said.

“Two AK Rifles, Three Magazines, Four Hand Grenades, Ammunition and other war-like stores was recovered from their possession,” the statement ends. — (KIMS)
