JDU State President GM Shaheen Slams National Conference for Failing to Fulfill Election Promises

BARAMULLA (KIMS) — Janata Dal United (JDU) held a workers’ meeting on Wednesday at Krank Shivan Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The meeting saw the enthusiastic participation of dozens of workers.

The meeting was presided over by JDU State President GM Shaheen, accompanied by Chief Spokesperson Liyakat Ali, District President Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, District President Baramulla Zahoor Ahmad, Javid Iqbal, District General Secretary Bandipora Ghulam Mohammad Dar, and other party members.

During the meeting locals of the area raised various grievances concerning their area. GM Shaheen assured them that all genuine issues would be resolved on a priority basis.

Speaking to the media, GM Shaheen said, “I visited Krank Shivan Sopore today as the people of the area have been inviting us for several months. We came here to address their genuine grievances and to fulfill the commitments we made before the elections. Whether they voted for us or not, it is our duty to serve the people.”

He added that the deprivation of basic facilities like water and electricity in Sopore, stating, “I have already spoken to the Chief Engineer to take immediate action on these issues. We are also working to invite a Cabinet Minister here to further address the people’s problems. Additionally, I observed that nearly 4,000 people in the area lack proper housing. We are striving to accommodate them under the PMAY scheme and are committed to working for their welfare.”

GM Shaheen strongly criticized the National Conference (NC), accusing the party of betraying the people by failing to fulfill its election promises.

He said, “The National Conference has a long history of making lofty commitments to secure votes but has consistently failed in implementation. This has left the people feeling disillusioned and betrayed. I urge the public to hold such parties accountable and support leaders who genuinely prioritize their welfare.”

He also welcomed the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel, saying, “It is a significant step that will ease the difficulties faced by the people of the Sonamarg area.”

Shaheen appreciated the introduction of the Vande Bharat train service from Delhi to the Kashmir Valley, stating, “After 30 years of prayers, this development has brought hope, and I expect it will boost tourism in the valley.” — (KIMS)
