JE arrested by ACB for accepting bribe in Baramulla

BARAMULLA — ACB traps and arrests Tassaduq Riyaz, Junior Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Block Harduabora, Tehsil Karhama, District Baramulla in north Kashmir for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000 for preparing Bills

Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint wherein the complainant alleged that they received allotment of work titled construction of retaining wall and fencing around Dargah near Gani Masjid Karhama under ADP/PRI on estimated cost of 1.90 lakh. The work was completed and bills were to be prepared. Tassaduq Riyaz, Junior Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Block Harduabora, Tehsil Karhama, District Baramulla was demanding Rs. 5000/- for preparing of bills of work done by the complainant, a spokesman of the probing agency said in a statement.

He said “Upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, case FIR No. 08/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Baramulla and investigation was taken up.”

He further said that during the course of investigation a trap team constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Tassaduq Riyaz, Junior Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Block Harduabora, Tehsil Karhama, District Baramulla while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 5000/- from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. Further investigation into the case is on. — (KDC)
