J&K Admin orders closure of Schools upto 9th for 2 weeks, Classes 10-12th for week

Srinagar: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Sunday ordered closure of all educational institutions across Union Territory from 5th April, 2021 (Monday) for two weeks in view of sharp rise in Coronavirus cases in the Union Territory.

The Classes upto 9th Standard shall remain closed for two weeks from 5th April (Monday) till 18th of April where as Classes 10-12th shall remain closed for a period of one week till 11th April, 2021.

All gatherings for social and customary functions will be restricted to 200 only and after following due COVID (SOPs) Standard Operating Procedures.

The Office of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on its twitter handle said, “In view of the rising trend in Covid-19 cases in J&K and the likelihood of young children getting infected and transmitting infections in large numbers, all classes upto and including class 9 in schools will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday April 5 till April 18 in J&K. Classes 10, 11 and 12 will also be closed for one week in all schools from Monday till April 11 in entire J&K”.

“All gatherings for social and customary functions be restricted to 200 only and after following guidelines and Covid SoPs,” the Office further tweeted.

Pertinently it is to mention that many schools have been shut in Kashmir valley after dozens of students and several teachers tested positive for Covid-19 from last couple of weeks. (KIMS)
