J&K allocated Rs 43,290 crore in Union Budget

NEW DELHI — The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been allocated Rs 43,290.29 crore in the Union Budget 2026-2027, which was proposed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament on Sunday.

According to Budget documents, out of the total allocation, Rs 42,650 crore has been allocated as Central assistance.

A sum of Rs 279 crore has been proposed in grant towards contribution to the Union Territory Disaster Response, Rs 101.77 crore has been granted for capital expenditure.

In the central assistance, the Union Government has proposed an allocation of Rs 42,650.27 crore as compared to the revised budget of 2025-26, which was Rs 40,619.30 crore for J&K.

In the budget 2025-2026, Jammu and Kashmir was allocated 41,000.07 crore. In the revised estimate for 2025-26, Rs 41,340.22 crore was allocated to Jammu and Kashmir.

Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Police — which is now directly controlled by the Union Home Ministry since the abrogation of Article 370 and the reorganisation of the erstwhile state — will receive Rs 9,925.50 crore, up from revised estimate of 9,097.44 crore in 2025-26. — (Agencies)
