‘Jummat-ul-Vida’ prayers disallowed at Jamia Masjid Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf

SRINAGAR — The management of Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Friday said that the authorities have disallowed’Jummat-ul-Vida’ (last Friday of Ramzan) Congregational prayers at the historic mosque.

District magistrate and police officials visited Jamia Masjid in the morning today and asked us to lock the gates of the Masjid as administration had decided that Jummat-ul-vida prayers will not be allowed at the Masjid today, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar said in a statement.

Anjuman strongly resented the move of the authorities, causes great distress to lakhs of Muslims who traditionally come to Jamia Masjid from all parts to offer prayers on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, the statement said.
