SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday paid tributes to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Prime Minister Modi said the nation expresses gratitude to the brave soldiers for their extraordinary courage and commitment towards securing the country.
“Their valour in the face of the most formidable conditions will forever remain a source of national pride. Their unwavering patriotism and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations,” Modi said in a post on X.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Kargil Vijay Diwas symbolises the indomitable courage and extraordinary heroism of the Indian Army.
He said that in 1999, despite harsh conditions and enemy positions on high-altitude Himalayan fronts, Indian soldiers forced the adversary to retreat through ‘Operation Vijay’.
Shah paid homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also remembered the martyrs of Operation Vijay and paid tribute to their supreme sacrifice.
“I bow to our martyrs who made supreme sacrifice to safeguard the sovereignty and honor of Maa Bharti during Operation Vijay,” Sinha said.
He said the extraordinary courage of the armed forces would continue to inspire generations and also paid respect to the families of fallen soldiers, saying their selfless dedication remains a symbol of national pride.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War and to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the Armed Forces. — (KIMS)
