Kashmiri leadership should demand restoration of statehood with special status: Dr Rizwan Rumi

SRINAGAR — The political leadership in Kashmir should demand the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir along with its special powers — Article 370 and Article 35(A) in the all party meeting which is going to be held on 24th of June.

The all party meeting was called by the Prime Minister of India by inviting political leadership from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi for dialogue on Kashmir.

Dr Rizwan Rumi, executive member South Asian Center for Peace, Democracy and Development (SACPDD) in a press conference said, “The Kashmiri leadership should demand restoration of Article 370 and Article 35(A) as the Home Minister of India Amit Shah as already assured in parliament that statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir on appropriate time.”

Dr, Rizwan further said that the government should show sincerity towards Jammu and Kashmir by releasing all political prisoners and all innocent youth and get them back to jails in Kashmir.

They should remove bunkers from civilian areas, ensure free traffic movement on roads, and take other measures just to mention few CBM. Otherwise this is eye wash and further expose Kashmiri useless politicians, he added. — (KIMS)
