Lashkar militant killed in Srinagar encounter

SRINAGAR — A local militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit was killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Kreshbal Palpora area of Srinagar city on Sunday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Kreshbal Palpora area of Srinagar city following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter one local militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed and he has been identified as Adil Parray from Ganderbal.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Viajy Kumar said Adil was involved in killing of 02 JKP personnel Gh Hassan Dar in Sangam & Saifulla Qadri in Anchar Soura and injuring a 9 year old girl”. — (KIMS)
