SRINAGAR (KIMS) — As the rain lashed Jammu Kashmir Kashmir since morning, the Meteorological Department (MeT) on Wednesday forecast light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir till 22nd July 2023.
An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, Intermittent light to moderate rain, hundershower is expected at many places of Jammu division and at scattered places of Kashmir valley from July 20-22nd, 2023. Heavy to very heavy rain is possible at some places of Jammu region during this week, he said.
He said, Katra town in Jammu region received all time heavy rain in last 24 hours. Katra received all time Extremely Heavy Rain of 315.4mm in 24 hours. This is heaviest since 1980. Earlier it was 292.4mm on 31st July 2019, he said.
He also warned people about risk of flash flood, mudslide, landslide etc. The risk of flash flood, mudslide, landslides has increased due to heavy rain, he said.
He also advised people to remain cautious and stay away from streams, rivers and other vulnerable spots to avoid any incident.
Meanwhile, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 23.4°C, Anantnag 20.0°C, Qazigund 20.4°C, Kupwara 19.5°C, Kokernag 19.8°C, Gulmarg 15.0°C and Pahalgam 17.6°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Wednesday.
The winter capital Jammu recorded 23.2°C, Katra 21.2°C, Batote 19.0°C, Bhaderwah 19.3°C, Banihal 19.9°C, Udhampur 22.5°C and Patnitop 18.8°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.
In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 15.0°C and Kargil 17.4°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
