Local LeT militant killed in encounter at Arihal Pulwama

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A local militant, affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit has been killed in an encounter in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

The encounter encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Arihal village in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Thursday evening.

Reports said, a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Arihal village in the district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said, as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, one local militant identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alie, son Mohd Ayoub Alie, a resident of Pinjoora Shopian was killed. He was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit.

Incriminating materials, along with arms and ammunition including 01 Pistol, 02 Magazine, 05 RDS and 02 Grenades were seized from the encounter site.

Police said, Kifayat was involved in several terror-related crimes including in Case FIR No. 123/2021, FIR No. 294/2021 and FIR No. 180/2023 of Police Station Shopian. — (KIMS)
