Major reshuffle in J&K Police Department on cards; DIGs, SSPs to be transferred

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is reportedly planning a major reshuffle in the police department, with several high-ranking officials likely to receive new postings.

Sources told Kashmir Independent Media Service – KIMS that the reshuffle is in its final stages at Police Headquarters.

Several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs), and Inspectors, are expected to receive new postings as part of the process, sources said.

The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh perspectives to key roles across the Union Territory.

The decision comes over a week after Omar Abdullah took office as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Additionally, Nalin Prabhat was recently appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), following the retirement of R. R. Swain.

Prabhat, who has now assumed the top police role, is anticipated to implement strategic changes aimed at strengthening law enforcement in J&K. He has signaled a commitment to a renewed approach in addressing the challenges in J&K. — (KIMS)
