SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A man has been arrested for cheating and extorting money in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Monday
The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag district said that they have taken cognizance of social media reports and on the basis of complaint against an individual for cheating and intimidating people in order to illegally extort money from them.
“Taking cognizance of social media reports and on the basis of complaint received that an individual named Saqib Bashir Ganai R/o Rakh Moman Bijbehara, District Anantnag has been cheating and intimidating people in order to illegally extort money from them, legal action has been initiated against the said person and case FIR No. 294/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehera,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.
“The person has been identified and arrested in the said case,” the statement said.
The police has also requested citizens to exercise caution while using internet and social media apps.
“Citizens are requested to exercise appropriate caution while using internet and social media apps and in case of any grievance to approach police directly for appropriate legal action rather than taking recourse to social media,” the statement said. — (KIMS)
